The counter

Tap anywhere.
Your mala turns.

The whole screen becomes your mala. Each tap rolls the count and turns one bead along the arc, the way a bead slides under the thumb. Nothing to aim for, nothing to distract you.

  • Tap anywhereThe whole screen is your mala. There are no small buttons to find.
  • Feel every beadA soft haptic pulse with each repetition, as a bead slides under the thumb.
  • Your rhythmCount by touch, on a steady rhythm, or along with a recording.
  • Peaceful modeClears the screen of everything but your count.
  • Any count108 is the default, never a rule. Set the count that is right for you.

108-day journeys

Watch your practice bloom.

Begin a journey of 108 days, or any length you like, and a lotus begins as a seed beneath still water. Each day you practise, it grows: a first sprout, rising leaves, a bud, and petals that slowly open.

A day away never resets it. The lotus waits, and simply continues with you.

Japa for iPhone

Why Japa isn’t on the App Store yet

Japa is made by a small team at Dessigo. It has no ads, no tracking and no data to sell, so the app earns nothing on its own, and we’d like to keep it that way.

Publishing on Apple’s App Store needs an Apple Developer membership, which costs US$99 every year. That is the one step we haven’t been able to take yet. Japa already runs on iPhone in testing; publishing it is what remains.

If Japa has become part of your practice, or you’d love to see it on iPhone, you can help us get there. Every contribution is received with gratitude.

Where your support goes

  • Apple’s developer membership, US$99 a year
  • Testing Japa on real iPhones and iPads
  • Keeping Japa free, ad-free and private

Ways to support are on their way. Until then, the kindest help is to share Japa with someone who would love it.

Questions

Good to know

Is Japa free?

Yes. Japa is free to download, with no ads and nothing to buy. Everything you see on this page is included.

Does Japa need the internet?

No. Japa works fully offline. On Android it does not even ask for permission to use the internet.

Where is my data kept?

Only on your phone. There is no account and no server. You can export a backup whenever you like, or erase everything in one step.

Can I add my own mantra?

Yes. Add any mantra, naam jap, prayer or affirmation, choose its mala and set the count that is right for you.

What if I take a day away from my journey?

Nothing is lost. A day away never resets a journey. The lotus waits, and Japa simply says “Welcome back.”

When will Japa come to iPhone?

As soon as we can cover Apple’s developer membership. Japa already runs on iPhone in testing; publishing it is the step that remains.
